Winter Season & Ski

The Grebenzen ski resort is a small and cozy family ski resort with 25km of good ski terrains. It is perfectly suited for families with many nursery slopes and facilities for beginning skiers and children including magic carpet, baby lift and a carousel. There are some great ski routes as well for freeriders who enjoy a more adventurous experience. Despite the small size of the resort, ski infrastructure and snow-making facilities are top-notch, ensuring long skiing season until April. As elsewhere in Austria, you will find plenty of ski huts on the slopes to try out some Austrian comfort food and traditional sweets. For those who want to venture beyond this area, the larger Kreischberg ski resort with 42km of slopes is located less than 30min drive away, or Sankt Margarethen in Lungau / Katschberg about an hour drive away. Besides downhill skiing, there is an array of activities to enjoy during the winter season, from tobogganing to cross-country trails and ski touring.

Summer Season

The densely wooded highland between the Zirbitzkogel (2,396m) and the Grebenzen (1,892m) is a beautiful area to explore during summer. Hiking is very popular with plenty of natural wonders to discover, from the Gragger Canyon and its cascading waterfalls to the colourful flowery meadows and river creeks. The best way to experience these wonders is hiking on the “Via Natura”, a lovely hiking trail through the natural park - it is around 130km in total, but you pick just do one of its 10 stages. Wood has a special significance in the region of Murau-Murtal - there are around around 80 natural sites that show the economic cycles of lumber. The Furtnerteich moors was declared a bird sanctuary in 2006 and is a paradise for any fans of birdwatching. Exploring the imposing benedictine monastery complex with its gardens is a highlight as well. Bikers should get on the Mur Cycling Path, one of the most travelled cycling paths in Austria, that runs along the river Mur. There are a few golf courses in the Murau area with some beautifully positioned greens, the closest is the Golfclub Mariahof located only 10min away from Sankt Lambrecht.

If you are looking to recover from sport activities, you can indulge in the pools of the Naturparkhotel Lambrechterhof with its saunas and wellness spaces. If, on the other hand, you want to experience some more action, the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg offers motorsport events as well as off-road driving, go-karting and many other events for car enthusiasts. In summer, you will also be able to join one of the music festivals in Spielberg or Murau. In summary, whether you look for peace and quiet or more active holiday, Grebenzen - Sankt Lambrecht is a perfect choice.

Food scene

There are culinary pleasures to enjoy all over Austria, but each region offers its specific delicacies and Styria is no exception.
